Well it has been an extremely busy year, but a great one at that. Aside from one more small project I have finished my first year of Grad school at Roosevelt! It has been wonderful studying with Dr. Stacy Garrop, and I feel I have grown so much more as a composer and musician. Recently I had the premiere of my new piece for solo piano titled Obsidian Wasteland, at the Composers Pianist Collaboration concert at Roosevelt University. Pianist Natalie Sherer did a phenomenal job performing my piece and it was great having the opportunity to work with such a talented pianist.
I am currently finishing up my piece for the Fresh Inc. Music Festival that I will be attending in June! It is written for Oboe, Clarinet, Viola, Cello, and Double Bass and is titled Petite Counterpoint. As the Festival goes on, I will do my best to update regularly on my activities and talk more about the piece as it gets rehearsed, and eventually performed!
At the Ursa Ensemble side of things, we are preparing for our trip to St. Louis where we plan to do a weekend of concerts! We will be their during the dates of June 5-8, and I will post more information as we finalize our programs.
It’s going to be a very busy summer!
