Since school has started I have been very busy keeping up with work, composing my Master’s Thesis, and getting to rehearsals for 2 different ensembles. To say the least it has been quite the rush and it certainly doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. I certainly can’t complain though, as I have chosen this to be my life and to be where I am now, I am truly thankful for that. Recently I performed the Trout Quintet by Franz Schubert, and it was such a wonderful time playing the piece in its entirety with such a fantastic group of musicians. Before we performed this piece we even had a little “pre”-ception. This was to encourage concertgoers to hang around for a little and talk with us before we took the stage. The cake and pie was delicious and our violist Nicholas Jeffery even went as far to bake a kickass apple pie from scratch. Overall good times were had and I really feel like we continue to grow as a group.
Which is GREAT because we have a another upcoming concert very soon in early October! On the 5th at 3 p.m. we will be playing a concert for the Ravenswood Art walk, where artists present their work for the community.
A few more events upcoming, Ensemble 20+ on Oct. 15 (8 p.m.) will be performing my piece Petite Counterpoint written for Oboe, Clarinet, Violin, Viola, and Double Bass. I am ecstatic for the performance as my own brother Matthew will be taking up the Violin part. I understand I have been paired with pieces by Alvin Lucier and Vinko Globokar, which only tells me it’s going to be a weird and exciting concert!
Additionally my piece Susie Asado for Soprano, Mezzo- Soprano, Baritone, Piano, and Toy Piano will be performed on 10/13 at 7:30 p.m. at Roosevelt’s Ganz Hall.
I will update more when I find time, but I wanted to leave a post about recent and upcoming experiences in my life!
