So 2014 has already blurred itself into a clump and it’s hard to remember where things happened since most of it felt like it was just yesterday. So many wonderful things happened that year and I certainly won’t forget it anytime soon. Talking about all those things on this post though would take too much time and generally I’d rather reminisce over a coffee if that has to happen. So I’ll just talk about what 2015 is going to bring instead!

To start: As of yesterday I officially finished my Master’s Graduation Piece. It is a concerto for Piano, Toy Piano, and Celesta. The title is Disintegration in Five Parts. This piece was inspired by the artwork of my friend Zoe Nelson, who just creates extraordinary canvases of color and has a knack for utilizing negative space. You can check out her stuff here. The premiere of this piece is set for March 20 (Fri), 2015 at 7:30 pm. Pianist Stephen Uhl will be the soloist. I will talk more about the piece as the date comes closer!

Other news includes Ensemble Disquiet doing a concert on January 23 and 24 at the Strawdog Theatre Co.! Both these performances will be at 8 pm and include cabaret songs from myself along with composers around the city as well Gershwin, Bolcolm, and Bernstein to name a few. It will be a lot of fun and includes an open bar, so feel free to grab a drink and have a laugh!

On Feb. 15, Ursa Ensemble will perform my work Petite Counterpoint along with 2 world premieres by composers Joe Clark and Pierce Gradone. I am extremely excited to be working with these two, as I absolutely love the collaboration process with new works!

So that is what I currently have lined up for the next few months. Along with that I am beginning my last semester of my Master’s Degree and will finally be done in May! So my New Year’s resolution? Just keep on trucking. AND LAUGH A LOT.
