Back from Haiti!

I am back from Haiti and have some exciting events coming up!

First off this upcoming Friday (7/20/18) my colleague Christopher Narloch and I will be performing two of Morton Feldman’s late piano works: For Bunita Marcus and Triadic Memories. We encourage you to bring your pajamas and relax as this will be a long concert with very slow and soft music. Even more exiting that we were recently featured in both the Chicago Reader as well as NewCity Music Magazine! This won’t be an evening to miss.

Later in August, Ursa Ensemble will be performing at the Thirsty Ears Music Festival on the 11th at 3 pm on the MainStage. We will be playing works by Schubert and Bartok. For details check here!

Finally, on the Sunday of that same weekend (Aug. 12) I will be doing my first solo show at Constellation at 8:30 pm. I will post more details soon when things are more finalized, but I am super excited to present a world premiere along with a variety of repertoire written in the last decade.

In regards to composition I am gearing up for a residency at Banff in October where I will be working with oboist Laura Adkins. I am beginning work on a piece for solo tuba for Akshat Jain, a solo alto saxophone piece for Richard Brasseale, and have a new collaboration on the horizon with violist Barbara Beechey. I’m finalizing some other projects as well and will have a more current list up soon.

Trombonist Riley Leitch will premiere my new trombone work Sonate en Sol Mineur pour Trombone (in one) mouvement later in August at Lucerne. Date TBA!
